COVID-19 PANDEMIC UPDATE MAY 2020
Spring is in the air and so is a bit of hope as restrictions are loosened and the world cautiously tries to return to normal.
At this point we still do not have any firm directives from the City of Toronto as to whether we will be given permits for our diamonds or if we will be allowed to gather in groups large enough to host games and practices. The most recent update we have been given is that the city might consider issuing limited permits starting in early July.
Safety is paramount, so we will not be rushing any decisions on this matter. It seems more and more likely that we will be forced to abandon a formal season, even a shortened one. We are still hopeful of executing something informal later this summer, although it may be foolhardy given fears of community outbreaks. As much as we’d love to get things up and running – common sense must prevail.
With that in mind we are prepared to offer two options to those who have already registered for 2020, a refund or a deferral of registration fees to 2021. Keep in mind, if you opt for a refund, the league will not hold your discounted 2020 rate and registration could be more expensive in 2021.
Please email us for more information on how to apply for a refund.
UPDATE FROM THE CITY OF TORONTO
On May 20, 2020 the City of Toronto provided an update on the use of public spaces. While parks and playing fields will be open to the public as of May 23, organized sports are still not permitted. For more information please click here.
STAY UP TO DATE
We have moved our News section to Social Media via Facebook and Twitter. Each day during the season our volunteers post everything from photos and anecdotes to vital information about field conditions, location changes and cancellations. Give us a like or a follow and stay in the know!
